Reviews about The Hop
- 4 / 5By Vernon EmmertThe food was good and fresh. The shakes were good but it was like they forgot to put malt powder in the malts.April 28, 2017
- 4 / 5By Patricia Gibson-WilliamsIt was a beautiful day so husband, 9 year old, & I wanted to get out of the house... We settled on a day trip to see some property that we were given, followed by a trip to one our favorite Rock Shops, over in Porter. On a whim we decided to stop here. Since this had an old fashioned feel that made me think of kids drinking milkshakes we ordered a chocolate banana one to share. It was rich & creamy. My husband ordered a burger, that he devoured. As he ate he enthusiastically mentioned coming back again in the future, so I surmise that he liked it. My son & I shared a chicken sandwich. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Moist & juicy. I ate one or two of the fries that my husband ordered & they were good. But I was delighted to discover that the onion rings were pretty close to my ideal of how they should be. Not to thick or thin with a nice crisp outside & a tender interior. I focused on those. My son loved the way they grilled the bun. He is very picky about how his bun is prepared lately. This was his ideal bun & the one that he will forever measure buns against in the future. :)
The staff was nice, but this is a no frills order at the counter place. When I went back for extra mayo it was provided quickly. I just like to sit down & order especially since I have a bad knee. My other dislike was that the food was quite slow in arriving. We expected a quick stop but it took us a full hour to get our food & finish it. We eat at another burger place, that cooks to order, once every month or two when my son has classes. It take us approximately 10 minutes to get to the car & drive each way. We order & dine getting back to his class with about 5 minutes to spare. So I felt that the amount of time we waited for food was out of whack with the number of diners that had arrived after the standard lunch hour. It was worth the wait. Just not somewhere that I am sure that I will feel comfortable stopping if I'm driving though & want a quick meal. However this may not be the norm. I'd love to find out in the future.March 22, 2017 - 4 / 5By Lola WardGoing inside is wonderful. Definitely worthy of 5 stars. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. A wonderful place for a family dinner. The staff is nice. The drive thru is why I rate only 4 stars. Slower service, less friendly and the menu is so small you have to ask the driver to read it to you.November 08, 2016
- 4 / 5By Jamil CarboFood is great. They actually customize my burger a little bit more than something that was not on the menu and the Pumpkin Pie milkshake was a very good, I wished I would have gotten a large! Ambience is clean staff is nice. I will come here again.August 14, 2016
